Lora Schlesinger Gallery is proud to present A Wandering Point of View, Ron Rizk’s fifth solo exhibition with the gallery with the gallery featuring five new paintings. The exhibition opens with an artist’s reception Saturday September 7th from 4-6pm, and is on view through October 19, 2019.
Ron Rizk’s latest body of work is a continued exploration of the integration of the slow narrative of time with the immediacy of abstraction. As part of the creative process, Rizk first constructs each painted structure from paper, which allows for a distillation of information. The paper structures are then rendered, with masterful technical precision, and placed into invented landscapes loosely based on memory or completely imagined. Through blurring reality, memory, and imagination, each landscape is imbued with an inherent sense of mystery and fantasy.
Ron Rizk received a degree from the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art, his BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and his MFA form the University of Illinois, Champagne-Urbana. He is a former Professor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing at the University of Southern California Roski School of Fine Arts. He has exhibited nationally since the late 1960’s in galleries and museums across the United States including the Denver Art Museum, CO; Frye Art Museum, Seattle, WA; Grand Rapids Museum of Art, MI; Laguna Beach Museum of Art, CA; Long Beach Art Museum, CA; and Oakland Museum, CA.
